About this course

This course helps teachers build a deep appreciation of Europe’s shared cultural heritage — and turn that into practical teaching strategies for their own classroom, using digital tools and interactive learning. In Antalya, on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, participants explore real historical sites — from the ancient ruins of Perge to the Ottoman-era heart of Kaleiçi…

Methodology

Pamphylia to Ottoman, Along the Coast

Days 3–4 move through three distinct eras built directly into Antalya's old town and surroundings — Roman/Hellenistic Perge, the Seljuk-era Yivli Minaret, and Ottoman Kaleiçi — so participants see how successive civilisations shaped the same Mediterranean coastline.

Document-Then-Debrief

participants log real heritage-education strategies on-site on Day 3, then test and refine them against new sites on Day 4 — leaving with strategies already tried against real material, not just a lesson-plan template.

Digital Tools Workshop, Built From What You've Seen

a dedicated session on virtual tours and interactive materials, using the Antalya sites from Days 3–4 as the working examples participants take home.

What you'll take home

Explain how Antalya's Pamphylian, Seljuk and Ottoman heritage — from Perge to the Yivli Minaret — reflects layered Mediterranean history within a European framework.

Integrate cultural heritage topics into lesson plans, using digital tools and interactive resources built from a real multi-era case study.

Turn a heritage-site visit into a structured classroom task, using the same document-then-debrief method practised on Days 3–4.

Connect teaching to the EU's cultural-heritage priorities using a concrete European example rather than an abstract one.
