Finnish Education Model: Best Practices for Inclusivity
Course Description
This course aims to introduce educators to the Finnish education model and its best practices for inclusivity, helping them implement inclusive education strategies in their own classrooms. The Finnish education system is widely recognized as a model for equity, inclusivity, and student-centered learning. Aligned with the 2021-2027 Erasmus+ Programme, this course enables participants to learn the innovative methods used in Finland and apply them in their own educational contexts.
Participants will explore topics such as personalized learning, inclusive education, and equal opportunities to develop practices that meet the diverse needs of students. The course will also cover digital tools and inclusive teaching methods used in Finland to foster a more equitable learning environment.
Course Methodology
This course follows an activity-based, hands-on, and collaborative approach. Participants will examine strategies from the Finnish education system and learn how to adapt these strategies for their own classrooms. Digital tools, group work, and project-based learning activities will enable participants to develop inclusive education practices.
Participants will explore Finland’s approach to inclusivity and equal educational opportunities, developing practical strategies they can apply in their own classrooms.
Course Objectives

Day 1: Introduction to the Finnish Education System
- Icebreaker Activity: “Experiences with Inclusive Education” – Participants will share their experiences with inclusive education to start the course.
- The Finnish Education Model and Inclusivity – Key principles of the Finnish education model and practices for promoting inclusivity.
- Equal Educational Opportunities – Finland’s student-centered approach to providing equal educational opportunities.
- Project Simulation: Planning Inclusive Education Activities – Participants will plan and present inclusive education activities based on the Finnish model.
Day 2: Personalized Learning and Student-Centered Education
- Warm-up Activity: “Education for Student Needs” – Participants will discuss strategies for student-centered education.
- Personalized Learning Strategies – Personalized learning strategies in Finland and how to implement them in the classroom.
- Student-Centered Education and Inclusivity – Planning lessons based on student needs and creating an inclusive learning environment.

Day 3: Digital Tools and Inclusive Education
- Warm-up Activity: “Enhancing Inclusivity with Digital Tools” – Participants will discuss how to use digital tools in their classrooms to enhance inclusivity.

- Technology for Inclusive Education – Developing projects that promote inclusivity using digital tools.

Day 4: Practical Applications of the Finnish Model

At the End of the Course
- Participants will receive their certificates.
- Participants will provide a general evaluation of the course and complete the event survey.
- Participants will receive course materials, videos, photos, and PDF documents in both digital and print formats.
Follow-up and Support
After the course, participants will receive digital and printed materials. An email group will be created to facilitate ongoing collaboration and the sharing of ideas related to inclusive education projects.
